Slipping Accidents

Slipping accidents – As with tripping accidents, the success of a claim will often depend simply on how much accurate information there is about the way in which the accident occurred and whether reasonable precautions could have been taken to prevent the accident. In July 2005 a holidaymaker failed in his claim for compensation for spinal injuries after he slipped and fell into a swimming pool in Portugal. The Court accepted that the floor tiles next to the pool had not been coated with a non-slip material, but could find no evidence that the Claimant had actually slipped in that area.

If you suffer injuries as a result of a slipping accident while you are at work, it may be possible to bring a claim under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992. These will apply if the employer has not taken proper steps to keep the premises in good repair. A specialist solicitor will always be able to advise you whether these or any other specific regulations are relevant to your claim.
