Food poisining award
A woman who developed food poisoning following eating a chinese meal has been awarded £1.2 million in compensation.

The woman was a midwife whose career was ruined when she contracted salmonella. This triggered reactive arthritis which has left her suffering from what the Court of Session in Edinburgh described as a permanent progressive disease as a result of the defender's negligence'

The restaurant accepted responsibility for the infection but challenged the level of the award.

The Pursuer, Margaret-Ann Reynard, said that the meal had ruined her life, and that the award reflected the degree of damage caused to her. She said that the money would help her to adapt her home to cope with her needs caused by the condition and would help her to prepare for her future.
