Wooldridge v Hayes and Vulcan Motors Limited High Court 10 June 2003 Mrs Wooldridge was a front seat passenger in a car which was struck by a wheel which had become detached from another vehicle. She suffered catastrophic injuries including a brain injury. She was unable to speak, to eat or to swallow although she did have some awareness of her surroundings. She was awarded damages for pain and suffering of £175,000 plus a sum of just over £320,000 for future costs of physiotherapy, nursing and other care. The care package included the cost of a brain injury case manager, occupations therapy and speech therapy.
