Brain Injury
Barton v Dooley 26 January 2004
The claimant, who was only 26, sustained a moderately severe brain injury as a result of a road accident. He was able to return to work as a forklift truck driver, but had suffered a considerable personality change and could not go back to doing his previous job. He was awarded £80,000 for damages for pain and suffering alone, but his total award of £500,000 reflected the fact that he would need care, supervision and assistance in the future.
