Ex-miners deductions from damages
Ex-Miners complain of deductions from damages

Many ex miners have complained that money was deducted from their damages following compensation settlements for chronic lung disease disease and vibration white finger which developed as a result of working for the National Coal Board.

John Mann, MP for Bassetlaw, has waged a long running campaign to highlight alleged abuses of the compensation scheme, established by the Government in 1999, saying that millions of pounds have been paid to solicitors involved in the scheme which should have gone to ex-miners instead.

South Yorkshire police have commenced an investigation into allegations that funds from the compensation scheme have been misappropriated.

It is important to ensure that you receive the compensation to which you are entitled. Fairplay ensures that the solicitors we work with confirm they will not make any deductions from your compensation at the successful conclusion of your case.
